Noses and Couches
We had our first ER experience last week. Preston dove toward the couch, but did not land on it. He hit the edge of it where there is a large support board. It was an instant swollen, black and blue mess. I was able to distract him with toys and outside, so his crying did not last very long. However, his nose looked horrible. So I called his doctor to see if I should bring him in to check it out. The doctor did not tell me what I wanted. I was told to take him to the ER as soon as I could. Apparently there is only a short window when a nose can be fixed properly. And since there are no clear signs of a broken nose, the only thing that can be done is an x-ray. So we went to the ER. It was actually a pleasant experience. No one was crying, the wait wasn't too long, and we were able to sit and watch cartoons in our room. Thankfully, in the end, there was no broken nose. The doctor said it was just badly bruised.
This picture doesn't show how bad it was, but you can kind of see the swollen area.

We Will Miss Tamme!
We have enjoyed our time with Tamme very much. We welcomed her into our home in August, and now it is time for her to go back to her family in Thailand. She flys home tomorrow. It has been a great joy to have her in our home. It was a hard start as she came into a new home with new people. But soon, as we learned each other's character and expectations, she was able to fit right in and be a wonderful addition to our family. She was wonderful with the children. Both boys have grown to love her and accept her as part of our family. They will miss her very much.
Her thoughtfulness, kindness, and generosity were very much appreciated. She was a huge help for our family as well. We could count on her to help with all the household chores. She did not need to be asked, she just stepped right in and helped when help was needed. She is a great young lady and we are very happy to have had her with us these last 10 months. We will all miss Tamme!
